PDF Editor

Your PDF is opened, drawn and saved entirely inside this page. Nothing is uploaded, so it works offline once loaded and no copy of your document exists on any server. Most online PDF editors cannot say that.

Editing text that is already in the PDF. A PDF does not store text the way a word processor does - it stores glyphs positioned on the page, using fonts that usually contain only the characters the document happened to need. There is often no way to type a character the original font never included. So replacing text works by covering the original and re-typesetting it in the closest standard font. On plain documents the result is seamless; on ones using a distinctive typeface you will see the difference. The editor tells you which font it matched each time you do it.

Whiteout is not redaction. Covering text draws an opaque rectangle over it - the words underneath remain in the file and can be recovered by anyone who copies the text out or runs an extraction tool. This is true of every PDF editor that works this way, ours included. If you are removing confidential information before sharing a document, use a tool that genuinely deletes the underlying content.

Scanned documents. A page that is really a photograph has no text layer, so there is nothing to click. Whiteout and a text box will still do the job.

Everything else - new text, images, rectangles, ellipses, lines, freehand drawing and signatures, highlighting and whiteout - is written into the PDF as real page content, flattened so it looks the same in every reader.
